Season Pass Spring 2012

Description : Back again by popular demand! Purchase a “Season Pass” and take unlimited classes! All classes are eligible unless otherwise stated. So, save some $$$ and buy a Season Pass for $55. Here are the details:
  • How long is a “Season Pass” good? A “Season Pass” is good for the entire published Class Schedule.
    A “Season Pass” purchased in the Spring Quarter 2012 is good for all classes offered March through May 2012.
  • How do I get my “Season Pass”? Come in to QuiltTrends—they’re available now, so purchase yours today! Then, pre-register for all the classes you want to take. We do ask that you consider your class registration a commitment to us and to our teachers. Please check your calendar for scheduling conflicts before you register.
  • Can I use my “Season Pass” for every class? YES and no! For most classes the fee is covered with the Season Pass, but this quarter, some classes require partial payment (Beth Schillig's classes and HQ Rental class and clubs), and BOM's and UFO’s are exempt.
  • What about supplies? Class supply lists are available at the store or we can email them to you. We certainly do appreciate you purchasing your class supplies from us, although we do not require it. In appreciation, we offer you 15% off all supplies you’ll need for the class.
  • Do you have to have a “Season Pass” to take a class at QuiltTrends? Certainly not! You may pay per class. The “Season Pass” is a good way to save money if you take several classes.

Beginning Machine Quilting

Description : Have you ever heard, “It’s not a quilt until it’s quilted?” Well, it’s true, so come on in and let Elizabeth show you the how-to’s for beginning quilting. You’ll learn about using the free motion foot (embroidery or hopping foot) for all kinds of easy designs. It’s best to have a class to learn the art of quilting, because it’s all in the relationship of speed: your foot VS your hands! Who wins? You do, with the beautiful quilting you learn to do, starting with this class. Level: beginner, must have working knowledge of your machine and how to attach your free motion (embroidery or hopping) feet and lower (or cover) the feed dogs

All About Color
Instructor : Sue Sandritter
Description : Join Sue for a lecture and demo of the use of color in quilts. We’ve all experienced the frustration of finding the “right” green. Just because it’s green doesn’t mean it goes, does it? There are many different facets of choosing
the right green! Come and we’ll discuss it, and you’ll leave knowing the scoop on green! And, BTW, on other colors as well!

Noriko Endo Confetti Naturescapes
Instructor : Elizabeth Palmer-Spilker
Description : In this class, you will create Impressionistic-like image by layering small bits of many fabrics over a background piece. Using one or your photos for inspiration, learn to paint on fabric with fabulous techniques for adding texture and transparency to your work using machine stitching. A final layer of tulle completes this unique dimensional nature project. Noriko Endo taught this class in Cincy and at QT and the results were fabulous for all students, artist or not. Noriko’s book “Confetti Landscapes” is required for this class and is available at QT.

Beginning Machine Piecing

Description : If you are new to quilting and want to start out on the right foot, this class is the one for you! You will learn how to choose fabric in Session I, learn how to correctly rotary cut a straight strip without ruler slippage, how to determine a quarter inch seam, how to press a straight seam and more. Each session features a different technique including the traditional split rail fence, log cabin and half square triangles. Class project is a throw size quilt that includes all of these techniques plus sashings and borders. Even if you've pieced a quilt, if you were disappointed in the results, take this class! This class is geared to the very beginner, so if you want to learn to piece a quilt top, sign up! Quilting is a fun hobby, and we can help you join the crowd!!

Bali Bowl or Bag

Description : In this class, you may choose the Bali Bowl or Bali Bag…it’s the same technique. This bowl/bag is really cotton clothesline wrapped in gorgeous Bali batik strips and sewn together!! Fun to do, it’s a slightly different technique from other clothesline bowls, and you can grab a Susie Pop to make it easier! You’ll have this bowl/bag almost done in class, so grab some strips and join us!

Paper Piecing
Instructor : Becky Dickson
Description : Paper Piecing is a must-have skill, enabling you do the smallest of piecing and the sharpest of points accurately and with no distortion. It’s a great technique to have in your bag of tricks, and our new paper piecing sample is easy to learn. is repetitive enough to learn paper piecing, and is perfect for Spring, which will be here before you know it!

Innovative Appliqué
Instructor : Becky Campbell
Description : Remove the learning curve of hand appliqué with this new technique developed by Becky Campbell. This new method does not require needle turn nor ripping out freezer paper from the back side and eliminates the tedious work of hand appliqué. It’s much easier yet gives precise results. The project for this class is “Peggy”, an original design by Instructor Becky Campbell

Zentangle

Description : Explore the world of Zentangle as you learn all about this new art form that is all the rage! In this class you will learn the Zentangle process: how to draw a Zentangle using pen and paper, what papers and pens are easiest to use, and then you’ll translate this to fabric! The possibilities are endless, and here’s a warning: it’s addictive!

Binding Class

Description : Join Sue for a hands on binding session and master the easy art of mitering a perfect corner, applying reversible binding, using a different binding on each edge of a quilt, making bias binding and applying it to a scalloped edge. All are welcome.

Stippling with Style 2
